My name is Karin Widmer. I live on a ranch west of Maple Creek with my husband, who by the way is very supportive of this home based business. Our son is grown and gone to university at VIU on Vancouver Island BC. I drive the school bus as a spare driver and help my hubby on the ranch when I can. I love scrapbooking, card making, and reading as hobbies. Quilting is my favorite hobby. When I go without quilting for any length of time I feel like I’m going through withdrawal.
My Aunt taught me to quilt when I was 12 years old. I still have the little pillow I made way back then. For many years I dabbled in it and sewing. Then with the encouragement from my local quilt store owners I took it up again and was hooked. So I have actively been quilting for over 15 years. I have always quilted my own pieces on my regular sewing machine and the quilting part is my favorite part of building process. Then early this year I (my Hubby) had an opportunity to purchase a used (barely used) Tin Lizzie 18. It was an instant joy to quilt on this machine. I have been blessed with quilting friends giving me tops to practice on and go through the learning curve of a long arm. My long arm, named Lizzie, is not computerized so every stitch is maneuvered by me. In a few short months, I have been able to quit my town job as an esthetician and focus on quilting almost full time.
I look forward to seeing all the wonderful quilt tops that are out there and waiting to be quilted.
